Wedding Photography
Having been married for over 35 years myself I have some idea of what makes a marriage work. In addition to love, it is communication, laughter, friendship and caring. When I photograph a wedding I try to capture these and other emotions in a way that will be meaningful to the couple and their family for years to come. At our initial meeting I will start to gain an idea of who is important to you and what your vision is of the images that I will be capturing of your wedding. Personally I do not believe that either a totally photojournalistic or completely formal approach to photographing your wedding will do you justice and prefer to have a combination of the two styles.
In general we try to limit our services to no more than two wedding per month in order to provide the quality and level of craftsmanship that we feel your wedding should receive. Since I feel it is important for you to know who you are entrusting to capture the emotion of your wedding, I include an engagement session at no charge for all couples. This will allow you to get to know me and how I work. You can decide after that experience whether I am the photographer for you. Once you and your future partner have seen the images and have had an opportunity to discuss this with one another then you can decide whether to hire Hufford Photography for your wedding. If you decide that my style is not what you were looking for, there will be no hard feelings and I’ll wish you well. There is also no pressure for you to purchase any of the images that I take during this session – although I hope you will see several that you can’t live without!
As far as the wedding photography itself, my basic fee is $2,000 which includes the second photographer and when necessary a “shot coordinator.” This is for approximately eight hours of photography plus the editing, compiling the proof book and web hosting that occurs following the wedding.
Within three weeks I will provide you with a proof book of the “keepers”. These same images will be available to view and purchase individual copies by your friends and family on a password protected web site for 120 days. While I do not know ahead of time how many images will be in this set, I would estimate that it would be 400 - 600. I will provide you with the password and you can decide who has access to the site.
The average price for a 20 page (40 side) flush mounted album in 10x10 size (approximately 100 fully edited images) is $1,250. “Flush mounted” means that the pages open flat with no significant seam in the middle. There are many options for viewing the photos of your wedding with a single album being just the most common. I will be glad to discuss other options with you in person, over the telephone or answer your email questions.
